WHAT'S INSIDE?
This guide teaches self-regulation skills for anxiety.
Here are the skills your kid will learn, step by step:
We'll shed light on our emotions by finding specific, accurate words for how we're really feeling.
This helps us and other people understand our experiences better.
It helps us manage our emotions and body, too, so we're less overwhelmed.
We'll create a tool to measure how intense our emotions are in the moment.
This helps us connect events in our life with our emotions and body.
Then we can see what we need to cope.
We'll find coping tools that would the be most helpful for you.
Everyone copes differently, and it helps to have a menu of options to pick from.
We'll combine the previous three steps to map out which coping tools help us at different levels of emotional intensity.
We'll find options to experiment with, so if the first option doesn't work, we always have a backup option to try instead.
We'll prepare by putting things in place now--before anxiety strikes later--setting ourselves up for success in using our coping map.
We'll also prepare some trusted people by sharing pieces of our coping map with them.
We'll keep track over time as we experiment with our coping map.
We'll write down what we tried and how it went.
That way we can see patterns over time and remember what's actually been helpful.

I'm a psychologist who specializes in serving teens and college students.
I trained at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Since 2005, I've spent thousands of hours directly serving youth as their therapist. I also have 10 years of teaching experience as a psychology professor.
One of the supreme joys of my life has been seeing youth experience healing, step outside their comfort zone, and transform in a way that they never thought possible.
During the years of the COVID pandemic, I started to dream about how I could combine my clinical expertise and teaching experience to make anxiety tools more broadly accessible to families, outside the mental health system.
That's why I created the Anxiety Survival Guide. It gives you access to the self-regulation skills I teach anxious teens and college students, now instantly available as a digital download.
Your kid can develop coping skills so they can get through the day and be okay.

The Anxiety Survival Guide™ is a toolbox of coping skills. It's a written guide with six sections: light the way, create a gauge, choose your tools, map it out, stock up on supplies, and captain's log.
The Anxiety Survival Guide™ is delivered as a PDF digital download. It's a 44-page file (not a physical hardcopy product).
In the Anxiety Survival Guide™, you'll learn:
The Anxiety Survival Guide™ is delivered as a PDF digital download. It's a 44-page file (not a physical hardcopy product).
Some of the pages are designed with "interactivity," meaning you can click checkboxes or type directly into the file and save your responses if you're using Adobe software (that part is optional though - up to you).
You can also just read the file on your computer, or you can print it out and write on it.
At this time the Anxiety Survival Guide™ is only available in digital PDF format (44 pages total).
If you'd like a hardcopy, you're welcome to print the entire file and have it bound or keep it in a 3-ring binder; or you can print just the pages you need at the moment.
The Anxiety Survival Guide™ will be delivered digitally, as a PDF download.
Within 5-10 minutes of purchasing, you will receive an email with a link to download the PDF.
When I wrote the Anxiety Survival Guide™, I had high school and college students in mind. Even more people have benefited than I first imagined, though. The youngest person so far who has successfully used the Anxiety Survival Guide was 11.5 years old.
I also wrote this guide so that parents, teachers, or therapists could walk through the content with youth (which is optional).
The Anxiety Survival Guide™ is a PDF that you need to read. Although I tried to write it in a way that is easily digestible in sections, the guide might not be the right resource for you if you hate sitting down and reading something (or if your anxiety prevents you from doing so). It's also not a quick-fix but instead equips you with tools that you need to practice consistently over time.
This product might also not be a good fit if you already have a solid set of multiple coping skills for anxiety, and you know when to use them effectively. If that's the case, you might be more interested in my deep-dive anxiety program called Peace To The People instead.
Using a PDF digital download like the Anxiety Survival Guide™ is not mental health treatment. It's content created by a mental health professional.
What I've done is taken some of the key components of treating anxiety and condensed them into a digital download. However, this still isn't mental health treatment or a professional relationship. It's evidence-based mental health content that you can access instantly.
The Anxiety Survival Guide™ is available for $29.
You could easily spend forever on Google or YouTube or TikTok, spinning your wheels in the endless abyss of information overload, without really knowing if you're getting it right.
Depending on where you live, you could also spend somewhere in the ballpark of $100-$200 for just one therapy session if you're paying out-of-pocket. I estimate that the content of the Anxiety Survival Guide™ would be covered in 4 or 5 therapy sessions... so this content could easily be valued in the range of $400 to $1,000 ($199 is a very low estimate).
For $29, you can build the core skills that high school and college students need to manage anxiety, make it through the day, and be okay.
We never want cost to prohibit people from accessing mental health help if they really need it.
If you're struggling with anxiety and can't afford the Anxiety Survival Guide™, send an email to hello@throughthewaters.org and we'll negotiate a price that works for you.
